25 years of teaching experience.

A look into the past.

1999-2006: Piano lessons in Hagnau
2006-2021: Piano lessons in Meersburg
2021-2022: Herdwangen-Schönach
depuis 2022: Rivas

In 1999, I set up my own business as a piano teacher. - after studies in Fribourg and Paris. The piano lessons in Hagnau took place in a 500-year-old farmhouse overlooking Lake Constance. The first pupil came from the nearby village of Immenstaad. Soon came the first adults. Many elderly people also wanted to sign up for piano lessons. The improvisation classes were also very well received from the outset. Soon, colleagues from the teaching staff were also joining the classes to get to grips with the increasingly important accompaniment of singing, which until then had not played such an important role in the training.

It didn't take me long to realize that the future of education will be digital. The Multimedia Digital Piano School was founded in 2001. MP3s, videos, and midis have made practice more interesting and especially much more effective. At first, a CD was recorded after each lesson, later a DVD. Fortunately, the USB key then began its triumphal march.

When in 2003 a young engineer had to move to Vienna for work, distance learning was born. A novelty at the time, everyday life today. Zoom conferences and Skype meetings have become the norm.

With the move to its own premises in 2006, the courses of Klavierunterricht in Meersburg became a permanent establishment in the catchment area of Radolfzell, Constance, Friedrichshafen, and Sigmaringen.

Distance learning has also become increasingly popular. From 2017, it is also available in French in France (Loire Valley, Paris, Côte d'Azur). For a time, I was also able to teach an African from Benin.

In April 2018, the interactive scores (own educational serveur) and the practice software have been introduced for acoustic instruments. In 2019, courses were given for the first time in Switzerland..

Due to Corona, the school fully switched to distance learning in March 2020. Courses for more than 50 students require a suitable learning platform. developed in the summer of the same year. As a result, all teaching materials for students are available at ILIAS (a platform used by universities worldwide), which makes for extremely comfortable working.

Today, every student has access to all audio and video files, classical scores in PDF format, interactive scores and comprehensive information material.

In 2021, the online piano school finally moved to a slightly smaller but very modern house in the hinterland of Überlingen, in Herdwangen-Schönach.

Playing the piano online has been further expanded. Courses in Germany now also take place in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich and Saarland. Digital courses now also enable students to take lessons on the move, in hotel rooms or often in their camper van.

During this period, my 1973 Kawai piano was used as a teaching instrument. When I was a child, I had the pleasure of learning to play the piano here. However, it was used in a modified version. The module from the company adsilent (https://adsilent.eu) (I can only recommend it!) was installed by a specialist, the very experienced and skilled piano builder Andreas Thoma(https://www.thoma-klavierbauer.de). No, he's not related to me. The result is a combination of old and new, acoustic and digital at the same time. I can recommend it to anyone looking for a modern digital piano, but who doesn't want to give up the feel of a real piano.

The so-called hybrid piano is a relatively unknown but very interesting alternative. Further information can be found in the Webinar and on Tips for buying pianos.

In the end, it was very personal reasons that prompted me to emigrate to Nicaragua during the summer vacations of 2022.

The entire student body participated in this emigration with great interest, and still does today.

Nothing has changed in terms of general conditions. Because of the time difference, only the morning classes had to be adapted. As in Germany, each class starts at the exact second. The instrument used is Roland's top-of-the-range model, the FP-90X (https://www.roland.com/global/products/fp-90x/). This piano in the price range of around $2000 also deserves to be recommended.

Living in a Spanish-speaking country with a Cuban radio and television host will allow me in the future to also teach in Spanish. Teaching piano can therefore be in German, Spanish, French, and English. See «Courses in 4 languages».

Over the past few months, I have developed a new teaching concept: modular teaching. The 18 most important piano subjects, spread over 29 lessons. See "Course system".  Also a new support concept for the practice week between classes. See "Support concept ».

Innovations continue - promise!
